Safety

Child safety standards

These standards apply to the app LOKIO: Meet People Nearby (Google Play, org.lokio.app) and the web app app.lokio.org, published by LOKIO Apps.

LOKIO is a service for adults. Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is prohibited absolutely, without exception and without any artistic, educational or satirical carve-out. This page states our standards, how anyone can report a concern, and what we do when we receive one.

1Report it inside the app

Anyone using LOKIO can report a child safety concern without leaving the app. No verification, no account level, no waiting.

  1. Open the pin or the profile in question.
  2. Tap Report.
  3. Choose Child safety. This reason is always available, to every user.

Or without any pin or profile: open Settings → Support → Report a child safety concern, describe what happened and send. It goes straight to our team.

A child safety report always counts. Unlike other reports it is never filtered out by account age or reputation, and it reaches a human whoever sent it.

2Report it by email

If you cannot use the app, or you are not a LOKIO user, write to us. This address is monitored and is the point of contact we have registered with Google Play for child safety matters.

3What is prohibited

The following is prohibited on LOKIO in every form - in pins, chats, profiles, avatars, links, banners and usernames:

  1. Child sexual abuse material, and any link, hint or route to it.
  2. Sexualisation of a minor, including in drawings, generated images, text and roleplay.
  3. Grooming: building trust with a minor for sexual purposes, or attempting to move such a conversation elsewhere.
  4. Soliciting, arranging or advertising a meeting with a minor for sexual purposes.
  5. Sextortion, trafficking, and any commercial exploitation of a minor.
  6. Using LOKIO while under 18, or creating an account on behalf of a minor.

4What we do when we receive a report

  1. A person reviews the report within 24 hours.
  2. The pin is hidden from the map automatically as soon as the report is corroborated, and by hand at any point before that. Business accounts get no exemption here.
  3. If it is confirmed, the account is terminated permanently and the sign-in identity behind it is barred from creating a new one.
  4. Evidence is preserved rather than deleted, so it can be handed to the authorities.
  5. Confirmed child sexual abuse material is reported to NCMEC and to the competent authority in the relevant jurisdiction, as the applicable law requires.

We cooperate with law enforcement requests that are lawful and properly served.

5How the product itself limits risk

  1. LOKIO is 18+. The age requirement is stated at sign-up and in the store listing.
  2. Every account is created through Google or Apple sign-in. Anonymous account creation is not possible.
  3. Your exact location is never published. A pin carries a place, a person does not.
  4. Pins expire on their own, so nothing accumulates into an archive.
  5. Any user can block any other user, silently and at once.

6Reporting to the authorities directly

You do not need to go through us. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Reports can also be made directly to:

  1. NCMEC CyberTipline — report.cybertip.org
  2. INHOPE — the network of national hotlines, inhope.org
  3. The police in your country.
